Born in 1988 in Caracas, Venezuela, Kilian Duarte was born into a family of visual and musical artists. With a world-renowned composer/pianist uncle and a heavy metal drummer cousin, it was natural for him to pick up the bass when the time came at 12 years old. Growing up in South Florida, Kilian was regular figure in the local music scenes, and played in everything from big bands to heavy metal ensembles.
Accepted to Berklee College of Music on Scholarship, he had the privelage of studying with such bass greats as Matthew Garrison and Janek Gwizdala, as well as playing with a myriad of artists all throughout the Boston area. To date he has a dozen albums under his belt. Proficient in all styles of electric bass he is also skilled in guitar, mandolin, and double bass. Since 2009 he has been both a sales manager and a contributing columnist for Bass Musician Magazine. A clinician for Hartke amps, he is expected to release a debut album of previous written material in early 2011.
